The hostel has a spectacular setting, overlooking the beautiful bay of Coldingham Sands. The beach, just a 2-minute walk away, is great for surfing, canoeing, sea fishing, picnics, and is safe for swimming. St. Abbs (1/2 mile) offers a wildlife reserve, seabird colonies, cliff-top walks and is a centre for deep-sea diving (surfing equipment can be hired locally, with discounts for Hostellers). There is a local shop 1 mile from the hostel and the small harbour town of Eyemouth, with a leisure centre, shops and supermarket, is nearby.
