The landscape around Durness Youth Hostel is wild and spectacular. It’s a land of mountains and sea, cliffs and waterfalls, beaches and rainbows. On a clear night the starry skies are phenomenal! Durness is a refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The hostel, a simple little wooden building, overlooks the famous Smoo Cave. There is a well-equipped kitchen and a very efficient drying room. The lounge, heated by a coal-burning stove, is cosy and peaceful.
