Situated on the east side of Fraserburgh (known locally as the Broch), overlooking the Esplanade and large beach (included in the marine conservation society’s good beach guide) are golden sands that stretch round the bay to the Waters of Philorth and it’s Nature Reserve. The Broch itself is a beachbreak which works best on big swells although Philorth further down the beach picks up more swell and is best pushing on from mid tide.
