Owned and run by Mattie & Carmel Shannon, the Rainbow Hostel is situated on a working farm in the village of Doolin, which is famous for Irish traditional music and culture. The hostel is a converted cottage where the Shannon family ran a tailoring business for over 100 years until the 1970s. The hostel, established in 1986, is small and cosy having just 24 beds, including private double rooms and a twin room and has a simple and relaxed atmosphere. Facilities include a self-catering kitchen, laundry, bike hire and open turf fire in the common room. When you stay with us, every effort will be made to make you feel at home.
Rainbow’s End is a cottage type bed & breakfast house built in 1998. The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful in a well-designed natural pine setting. Relax in our sunny sitting room, which has a natural stone floor, amidst carvings of bog oak and pine retrieved from our bog where we cut the turf, (dating 4,500 years). Bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, all en-suite, with TV, tea & coffee making facilities and hairdryer. We provide single, double and large family bedrooms. Breakfast is a very important part of your stay. There is a choice of breakfast, from the traditional Irish to vegetarian, a variety of cereals and home baking.
There are a number of first class spots in the area for surfers. Click here for The Green Room’s guide to surfing in Co. Clare.
