West Cornwall

Perranporth YHA is wonderfully perched on a clifftop overlooking Perranporth & Perran Sands which combine to make up one of the longest stretches of golden sand in Cornwall. As part of the St Agnes Marine Conservation Area, there are regular sightings of seals and dolphins around this area so you never know who might end up joining you for a session! As well as a lounge/dining room, self-catering kitchen & garden, this hostel has a surfboard store and a drying room suitable for wetsuits.
Perranporth & Perran Sands are popular surfing beaches which can hold big swells when the North Atlantic turns on the power. Good stretches of shallow water appear towards low tide which are perfect for kitesurfers, beginners in particular, as are the acres of space this huge beach affords. Very specific restrictions currently limit the kitesurfing area mostly to the north end of the beach and locals have worked extremely hard with the local council to achieve this so do your homework before you go out and you’ll have an amazing time. If there’s no waves or wind at all, there’s a pub right on the beach.
