Inner Hebrides

Measuring just 10 miles by 4 miles, Tiree is the outermost of the Inner Hebrides and is exposed to all Atlantic swells. The island is well known for being one of the sunniest places in Britain and, with the moderating influence of the warm Gulf Stream, winter temperatures are generally higher than on the mainland while summer evenings are warm and balmy. Millhouse Hostel is a newly converted barn with adjacent farmhouse, near the old Tiree watermill at Cornaig. This self-catering hostel offers an extremely high standard of facilities and is privileged to be a located a stone’s throw from Wild Diamond Surf run by Willy Maclean, one of the island’s surf pioneers. From here, there are a number of surf spots within easy reach from beachbreaks to offshore reefs with potential for tow-ins! Tiree is also known as an extremely windy place which means that offshore winds can be found in a range of locations. Stunningly white, sandy beaches come as standard here along with crystal clear water. If you’re looking for tranquillity, freedom of space, clean pure air and epic surf, the Isle of Tiree has it all.
