South East Scotland

St VedasColdingham

Surf trips don’t always sit well with the other half as we all know too well. Therefore, it’s always good to have a trump card which satisfies both your needs should an awkward situation arise. Set in the sunniest and driest part of Scotland, the idyllic, golden, sandy beach of Coldingham Bay is one of the most beautiful bays on the East Lothian coastline and it just so happens that the St Vedas Hotel directly overlooks this beach. First built in 1897, St Vedas is a friendly family-run business with unbelievably spectacular views offering a superior level of accommodation and service at very reasonable prices which should keep all but the most high-maintenance chick happy. It even has its own surf shop in the hotel itself which is run by Steve and if this guy can’t get you stoked for a heavy Scottish winter swell, no one can! Coldingham has previously hosted Red Bull’s Local Hero surf contest and you only have to see the pictures to realise that, by monitoring the weather charts, you can seriously make the most out of your money during a stay here. If the other half still isn’t happy after a few days here, it’s time to trade-in.
