The Surf Experience
The Surf Experience was founded in 1993 and is located in the south west of Portugal. The Algarve is right in front of AFRICA! This gives us a good year round climate and more sun shine days then most of the rest of Europe. Water temp almost never drops below 16 C….in WINTER! For sure we get rain at this time of year, but generally autumn and spring means better waves and less people. Situated near the renowned, deceptively quaint town of Lagos in the southern Algarve, The Surf Experience promises you a surfing holiday unrivaled anywhere in Europe. It´s a unique taste of the surfer lifestyle! The surf beaches are surrounded by immense and breathtaking scenery, lacking only in building developments and the tourist hoards. Get ready to breathe a little dirt as the roads to some of the beaches are crazy!!! Wave size and quality ranges from average to epic with an assortment of reefs and beachbreaks. The beauty of surfing this corner of the world is that there is a variety of waves for surfers of all levels.
Villa Catarina is surrounded by lush gardens featuring a swimming pool, sauna and a football/volleyball pitch. The villa contains three double bedrooms, one of which is also available as a special “Honeymoon Suite”. In addition, there is a three bed apartment and two wooden cabins amongst the trees for a real Thailand or Bali feel.
All rooms are of the highest standard and have their own bathrooms. The luxurious villa has a large living-room with a TV, video, stereo and pool table to ensure a relaxing environment after a hard day at the beach! As many guests have found out leaving can be very difficult and return visits are common.
The Surf Experience is a family affair and staying at Villa Catarina is a perfect chance to participate in surf-culture on all levels. As soon as you arrive the team will be working hard on and off of the beach to insure your surf experience will be one to remember! Dago and Connie lipke, owners of villa Catarina will surprise you with their zest for life. Dago’s love of surfing and the ocean is still strong and he can be often seen walking up and down his longboard catching long rides wherever we go. Connie’s world famous skills in the kitchen have to be sampled to be believed, her truly first class cooking 5 nights a week will blow you away.
