In the centre of a small, friendly village, this hostel used to be a school and still retains a children’s playground. Now refurbished, it’s a good base for exploring Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. The sea is only 0.5 miles away, as is the coastal path. The fishing village of Abereiddy, famous for its Blue Lagoon and black-sand beaches, is two miles away, or head to St David’s for safe swimming and sandcastles galore.

Abereiddy itself needs a big swell to work although this makes it a good bet when some Pembrokeshire breaks can’t handle a big swell. Either way, Whitesand is only round the corner.
