Wave Crest is situated in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland - the famous Ring of Kerry. Wave Crest began as a small camping park over 20 years ago when Sean opened up a field to allow campers to pitch their tents. The surrounding land, mostly rockfall, was unsuitable for farming. Sean, John and Desmond built an access road from the Ring of Kerry main road to the seashore. Careful planing was needed to ensure that the pitches were developed while at the same time keeping as much of the original terrain as possible. The O’Shea family have worked hard to develop the park to the 4-star Bord Failte facility it is today. The seashore in front of the Camp Site leads to the beach at Rath. There are lots of small harbours and beaches in the surrounding district with swimming, sea fishing and all forms of watersports available.

Derrydane is the best known spot in the area, a consistent spot that can produce great waves. Winter swells can produce some massive surf.
